what is sweet dream recording?we are a recording studio primarily. we have been private for most of our life and work only with artists we are interested in. that being said, you can submit samples of your work and if we like it we'll contact you about producing you. we're big on community and word of mouth, and we're pretty sure you heard about us from an artist who worked with us, so we'd like to hear about you, too.
sweet dream recording was born in the early part of this century with the notion that much of what we hear on the radio is pure unadulterated crap, distracting the masses from the startling notion that they are beams of radiant light and the creators of untold alternate realities. we are now housed in a small converted barn in portland, maine, and we are very happy turning out actual music instead of advertising. -
how much does it cost?see the above question first. we are first and foremost a private studio and if you are doing the next screamo metal garage mTV breakthrough album of the summer, we don't really want anything to do with you. but you wouldn't have read this far. if you're a conscientious artist in any genre, we are for hire if we think you're a good fit. Rates start at $30 an hour for tracking, mixing, location work, and mastering. We do of course recommend if your budget allows to master elsewhere and we have some pals in town we recommend. But we do do it, cos' we know you're broke.
And of course, those rates do drop the more time you book. Typically on full length albums we work for $20 an hour, but we also spend a month or so on those types of things. If you are a singer-songwriter coming in for 2 hours, it's $30 per, buck. we may seem like crotchety old soundperson types, but we have good reason. we're busy. -
