ANNA'S GHOST entered the studio this week and laid down basics on their first full length album and their second project at the barn. It is decidedly more Radiohead-ish than their first ep and I can't wait to get my grubby hands on the mix.
Look for the ADAM AND THE WAXMEN album to drop in the next month or so. It's been mastered quite artfully over at Acadia Recording by the very talented and very chill Scott Elson, and we're just waiting for the printers to knock it off and we'lll crack a whole buncha cool ones with ya somewhere to celebrate.
In geek musician news, my own band, LINE OF FORCE, is releasing a disco soon as well, entitled AMERICAN DREAM. We've played a few shows out in southern Maine and Boston, and with the new lineup of REV. ADAM MONTMINY,(Grupo Esperanza) and CHARLES PRINN(Adam and The Waxmen), we're recharged with more wrathful havoc-wreaking vengeance than ever!
We got to open recently for a rock group from Toronto we loved, THE FREE PRESS. We were very very glad to discover there still was one. Heh heh. That's a joke, Rupert Murdoch. I digress. They're actually a darn fine rock and roll band and you should google their new record, Half Truths and Whole Lies.
MEGAN YATES will back in ze studio this upcoming week as well and will record a follow-up to ONE OF THESE DAYS. The first was mind-blowing, I'm anxious here again for the second.
get outside...
time. not much of it.
well we're just pleased as punch here in the barn. Mr. Sam Pfeifle of the Portland Phoenix saw fit to put 'Make Love 'Til Doomsday' on his list of top 20 albums of 2007. The Anna's Ghost e.p. also made the cut of top 5 ep's, and I think both are well deserved. pick'em up and see for yourself...
we've taken some down time and gotten a brandy new control room. albums on the way from eliza sproul, adam and the waxmen, and frank hopkins and line of force.
peace...

so much is on tap... MEGHAN YATES recorded her debut release 'ONE OF THESE DAYS' here this month and we're truly amazed. She is an ex-portland now providence based artist whose unique voice is reminiscent of absolutely nothing you've ever heard; she's world class. bjork and feist jammin' out with a nylon guitar? some billie or sarah vaughan thrown in for good measure? I really have no idea to be honest, but it's achingly powerful. she drops the disc on oct. 31st at Slainte Wine Bar in portland.
... the WAXMEN are droppin me for a loop, too... we've had KENYA HALL(The Soul Movement, Voodoo Pawnshop) in the past couple weeks doing backup vocals and man, it's chilling to hear some of our wildest dreams realized.
we've got a new website up too, click on the pic above to check out adamandthewaxmen.com.
and last but certainly not least, longtime collaborator TRAVIS CYR will also be at Slainte on oct. 27th having a cd release as well.. 'A GENTLE FORCE' was tracked over the course of this summer in the barn, and we're tremendously proud of this. touches of bluegrass, jam, jazz, folk, and rock color lyrics straight from the heart. www.myspace.com/travcyr fmi.
phew. back to work.
